Getting your export
Can I do it all on my phone?
Yes, the whole way. You ask for the export in the app, download the files to your phone and hand them to us from there. If you have a very large archive, using a computer can feel calmer, but it is not a requirement.
Yes. You do not need a computer. The Snapchat app only exists on the phone, so that is where the export is requested, and the rest works just as well in the phone's browser as it does on a laptop.
When the email from Snapchat arrives, you download the files. On iPhone they land in Files, on Android in Downloads. Then you pick them out on our site with the button marked Välj ZIP-filer, Swedish for "choose the files", which opens your files directly rather than going the long way round through your photo library.
The part that can feel more awkward on a phone is the upload itself when the archive is large. It needs to finish, so keep the screen on and leave the tab open while it runs. If the phone locks up halfway through, files can arrive empty, and we tell you straight away rather than letting you find out later.
Using a computer is therefore a little calmer for really large archives, but that is a convenience and not a requirement. You can also start on the phone and continue on a computer whenever you like, since it is the same account and the work does not have to happen in one sitting.
One thing applies whichever you choose: if Snapchat has split the export into several files, all of them are needed. The small one holds the list of your Memories and the large ones hold the pictures themselves, so if you upload only the small one the archive comes out empty. If the export arrived in several parts, select all of them in one go.
