You have 3 GB of Memories. What happens to them?
With 3 GB you are below Snapchat's limit of 5 GB, and then nothing happens. No Memories are deleted, you don't have to pay for storage and you don't have to do anything at all. The limit applies only to what goes above 5 GB, and you have 2 GB left before you get there.

Why the limit doesn't affect you
In September 2025 Snapchat introduced a 5 GB limit on free storage for Memories. The rule applies only to what sits above the limit. If your whole archive is below it there is nothing to delete, and you are unaffected no matter how many years you have used the app.
It doesn't matter how many snaps you have, only how much space they take up. With 3 GB you have roughly somewhere between 180 and 600 Memories saved, depending on how much of it is video. Video weighs many times more than a photo, and that is why the range is so wide.
So you don't have to pay for storage, and you don't have to fetch an export to avoid deletion. There is nothing to avoid.
When this could change
Two things would move you over the limit. One is that you keep saving, which everyone does: you have 2 GB left, and a few months of ordinary snapping with video can be enough.
The other is that Snapchat changes the rules again. They have done it once, with a few months' notice. We don't know whether they will do it again, and we're not going to claim that they will. But it's worth knowing that the limit is theirs to move, not yours.
Check your number again in six months. It takes ten seconds and it's in the app.
If you want your own copy anyway
There are reasons to get your Memories out that have nothing to do with the deletion: an account that gets suspended, a phone that goes missing, or simply wanting the photos in your own photo library instead of inside an app. But it isn't urgent for you, and we're not going to pretend that it is.
Asking Snapchat for the export costs nothing and you can do it whenever you like. What you get is a ZIP file where the photos have no date and no location, which is the problem our service solves. But the decision can wait.
So you don't have to do anything at all. If you'd still like to see what a Snapchat export looks like, and why the photos in it have no date and no location, the whole walkthrough is here: How it works
