My Eyes Only

Is My Eyes Only included in the export?

No. Content that stays in My Eyes Only is not normally included in Snapchat's data export, and what we do not receive we cannot restore.

My Eyes Only is Snapchat's password-protected space for snaps you want to keep private. It sits separately from your ordinary Memories and is protected by its own passcode.

Content that stays there is not normally included in the data export. So this is not a limitation in our service but in what the export contains. If the files are not in the ZIP file, no service in the world can restore them for you, whatever they promise.

If you want those memories included, you need to move them back into your ordinary Memories in the app before you request the export. If you do it afterwards you have to order a completely new export and wait in the queue again.

It is worth pausing here, because this is a real trade-off. Once the content sits in ordinary Memories it is no longer passcode-protected in the app, and it comes along in the archive you download, where it sits as ordinary files on your computer. If you put something in My Eyes Only for a reason, think about whether you want it in an ordinary photo library that syncs to the cloud.

A reasonable middle ground: move out what you genuinely want to keep long term and leave the rest where it is. You do not have to choose all or nothing.

Remember too that we never see what is in My Eyes Only. We only get the export file you upload yourself, and we have no access to your Snapchat account.
