Getting your export
Where in Snapchat's settings do I find My Data?
Tap your profile at the top left, then the gear icon at the top right. Scroll down the list: My Data sits almost at the bottom, just above the Support heading.
It is four taps, and the last one is the one that usually takes a while to find. Snapchat moves and renames things in settings from time to time, so treat the route below as the shape of it rather than as an exact map.
1. Tap your picture at the top left, on the camera screen or the chat screen. That opens your profile.
2. Tap the gear icon at the top right of the profile. You are now in Settings.
3. Scroll down. The list is long, and this is where people tend to give up. Keep going past the account details, past Snapchat+, past Bitmoji and notifications.
4. My Data sits almost at the bottom. It is called My Data in English and keeps that name in most languages. It sits just above the *Support* heading, alongside rows like *Activity Indicator* and *Family Center*. If you have reached the Support heading you have scrolled one row too far.
If your app has the search field at the top of settings, it is quicker to type data there.
Once you tap My Data, Snapchat sends you to a logged-in web page. That is where you tick what the export should contain, and where both boxes are needed: Export your Memories and Export JSON Files. Those two labels stay in English in the app whatever language you use it in, so look for the English words even if the rest of your settings are in your own language.
We have pictures of every step if that is easier to follow. The page is in Swedish, but the screenshots show it tap by tap: sparaminamemories.se/ladda-ner-snapchat-memories
